Vista drivers for Dymo Labelwriter 310, 320 & 330 Turbo
We get a lot of requests for Vista drivers for old 300 series label printers, and there is some amount of confusion over this so here is the clarification:
The Dymo Labelwriter Vista driver (DLS 7.7 / DLS 7.8) works only for certain models (you can find the model number on the label underneath your printer):
LabelWriter 310: models 90966, 93029 & 93034
LabelWriter 320: models 90892, 93031 & 93036
LabelWriter 330 Turbo: models 90884, 93033 & 93038, USB ONLY
If you have these models the Vista driver should work. If you don't have one of those exact models then the Vista driver will not work. At all. Whichever version of drivers you use.
The other models will still work on XP/2000 using the DLS 7.6 version.
As far as we know Dymo have no plans to include any further models in any future release of the drivers or software. Presumably there is some technical reason for this, after all the 300 series are getting quite old now and were around long before Vista.
If you have one of these 'non-compatible' labellers then Dymo, rather cryptically, suggest that you contact the Dymo Helpdesk for "a proper solution" - whatever that means.
Anyway, the helpdesk can be reached at helpdesk@dymo.com if you want to give it a go. And if you do, please report back here and let the King know what the solution is...

I had trhis problem with my labelwriter 320. I contacted dymo and this is what they said...
Thank you for contacting the DYMO Helpdesk.
DYMO is always striving towards making its software compatible with the most recent operating systems. If your LabelWriter has a serial number that starts with 90794, 90795 or 90793, then I regret having to inform you that your printer is not compatible with with Windows Vista and Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard (and higher).
As a replacement we offer you the LabelWriter 400. Please send us your postal address, serial number and proof of purchase date of the LabelWriter, and we will send you a "defect registration" e-mail, to exchange your LabelWriter, free of charge, for a device that is compatible with Windows Vista , Windows 7, Mac OS X 10.5 (Snow) Leopard.
If your device is older than five (5) years, then I regret that we cannot offer any upgrade.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Unfortunatly my 320 was 4 months over the 5 years and when i spoke to them on the phone they said it is company policy and cannot help me. i would either have to use the 320 on an older computer running windows xp or older or purchase another labelwriter that is compatable..

ok, thanks for letting us all know. Pity you were just outside the limit, but I'm sure other readers may have more luck with more recent machines.

I donot think Dymo helps customers with this, the first buyers of a 320 cannot work on Vista, so this is the reward for helping making Dymo a succes:-(. Conclusion no more Dymo for me!

Are you kidding? It seems pretty generous to me - How many suppliers do you know that would replace a product upto 5 years old because it didn't work with new systems?
Do you think you'd get a replacement for a 4 year old TV because it doesn't support the new HDTV format?
If you purchased a lawnmower that used leaded petrol a couple of years before they phased lead petrol out, do you think that the lawnmover manufacturer would replace it with and unleaded one for free?
Replacing a 5 year old product with a brand new, faster product seems like a pretty good deal to me. Indeed, most electronic products these days don't even *last* 5 years before they break - and in the fast moving computer market most products are obsolete with 3 years.
Maybe before you ditch Dymo you should ask their competitors if they will guarantee that in more than 5 years time their machine will work with whatever version of windows is out at that time, or replace the product with a new one. Pretty sure I know what the answer to that would be!
